On the west side of the city of Hirtshals, near the big white lighthouse the Artl. Stützpunkt Süd is located . It was, and still is, a very big location. With more than 30 ST bunkers and emplacements and more than 20 smaller objects still to be found, it is a location of importance.
Because of its view over the Skagerak and so controlling the entrance to the Baltic sea between Denmark and Norway. There where four 671 gun bunkers and 4 open emplacements for 10.5 cm guns. For the AA protection there where two L409A bunkers and there was radar for air and sea control.
In the 622 of the Navy Radar station you can visit a "bunker museum Hirtshals" about this beautiful location.
Within the Stützpunkt where also a Luftwaffe Flugwache and a Navy Radar Station integrated.
